Core service: free, trauma-informed massage therapy
Care Through Touch Institute provides free, trauma-informed massage to low-income and unhoused individuals across San Francisco. Services are offered with no barriers to care, including no requirements for identification, insurance, or sobriety.
CTI works entirely through partnerships with community-based organizations. Rather than operating from a central location, CTI brings massage directly to places where people already receive support, including drop-in centers, therapy programs, shelters, and harm-reduction sites. This approach allows services to be offered in familiar, trusted environments.
Partner organizations provide space and help connect CTI therapists with participants. Some partners, particularly those with public funding, support the program through sliding-scale service fees. In deeper collaborations, such as with the Harm Reduction Therapy Center, CTI therapists work alongside social workers, nurses, and counselors as part of a coordinated care team, allowing for referrals and integrated support.
