Our unique hands-on diploma program in seated massage and social responsibility focuses on developing skills to engage and empower homeless and marginally housed people through touch.
- Students will be trained in:
- Seated Massage Therapy
- Advocacy and Empowerment Skills
- Wellness Education
- Spiritual Reflection on the Issues of Homelessness and Poverty
- Self-care Practices
Supervised work in the community is an essential part of the program.
The 150-hour training program consists of an orientation weekend and 5 modules over a 9 month period. Each module consists of a 2-day workshop. Between modules participants engage in a minimum of 10 hours of supervised service work in San Francisco, do assigned readings and reflect on their experiences through written field-site reflection reports.

- Orientation Weekend: Saturday-Sunday, September 13-14, 2008 (10am-4pm)
- Module I: Saturday-Sunday, September 20-21, 2008
- Module II: Friday-Sunday, November 14-16, 2008
- Module III: Friday-Sunday, January 9-11, 2009
- Module IV: Friday-Sunday, March 6-8, 2009
- Module V: Saturday-Sunday, April 25-26, 2009
Class Hours:
Friday classes: 4:30pm-7:30pm
Saturday and Sunday classes: 9:30am-5:30pm.
